granny's grandkids kitties

.......

This site is about the fur, feathered and reptile ones that granny and her gang live with. There are a total of four cats and four dogs belonging to Christi and her children (granny lives with Christi, Eric and their five children). My camera is one of those free digital ones and these pictures do NOT do them justice(except for Walter which was taken with a better camera)

There is Cheetah and Tiger.. They are ten year old brother and sister and are from Ziggy's litter (Ziggy is granny's clown kitty). Tiger is also known as Fat Cat. She is a bit like a football with legs but rounder. A sweet and loving kitty who believes there are only three things in life: food, sleep and being petted. Cheetah is a sweet kitty to people but does beat up the dogs now and then.

This is Heleman, Nikki's Meezer. He was born Feb '97. He really loves his human and Christi and likes females but doesn't tolerate males petting him very often. He loves to talk to me and seems to understand everything that is said to him.. He really lets us know when he doesn't agree with us.

This is Jasmine or 'The Brat' as she is known here. A beautiful tuxedo female that decided she wanted to live with us as a two month old kitten. She has always been a rough neck. A feline 'tom boy'. Heleman fell in love with her and decided she was 'his' kitten. Being the youngest and knowing she was adorable she is really spoiled rotten. Her favorite pass time is sneaking into the back yard and if she can't do that she torments the birds.

Sammy is 19 years old as of January 2002. He has about four teeth in his mouth, a severe heart murmer and cataracts. Still he is the sweetest dog I have ever met. He must not see too good anymore as he even sits and begs when I have a breathing treatment. With those soulful eyes and that sweet nature he can talk me out of everything. He former owners died when he was 14 and the grown children didn't want to be stuck with an old dog and were planning to put Sammy to sleep. Eric figured that he had a few good years in him that he should be allowed to live so Sammy was given to Bryce who was 4 at that time. They have a tendenacy to take in the near death ones (like me in Dec '99) and then I guess we just have too much fun to get around to dying.

Angel is a five year old apricot colored Peke. She was headed for the pound as her single parent owner just couldn't manage working, parenting and all the animals too. Christi said she would take Angel. The very next day Angel broke her right front leg at the elbow. After a thousand dollar vet bill the leg is still not healing. It looks like the leg may have to be amputated. This will not slow Angel down any though so don't go feeling sorry for her. Right now she keeps banging her cast and that does cause pain. Angel is a sweet dog but very jealous of any other animal coming close to Christi. Angel took awhile to adjust to her new home. At first she was terribly afraid to go outside alone or leave Christi's side for a moment. She will go for the cats in the living room if they get too near Christi. My Jade gives her a wide berth.

Walter is an 18 year old Red Lored Amazon Parrot. He is a sweet heart and has stolen my heart the first day he came her. He meows and barks which confuses the cats to no end. He also says hello, Wally want out and gives some wonderful wolf whistles.

Walter died this morning, November 21, 2003 of what we surmise was a stroke. He was doing his happy dance when he suddenly collapsed. He was dead by the time they reached the vets office three mins later. He was 19. Still very young as they live 60 - 80 years. I really miss that sweet boy.
There is an iguana and a parakette too plus two dogs that are outside most of the time. The outside dogs come in at night in the winter and stay upstairs with the girls. Unfortunately Buster the huge Boxer hates Sammy with a vengence. Xena the shephard mix (only medium size) hates my Toto. They just have to be kept separated. Since this house is 2500 square feet and has seven bedrooms that is fairly easy to do.
